TDM 2v2 Season 2 : mid week 2

04/03/2010 by sirdark

A quick note that we have replaced team ddr in the Pro division with team Chronic Insanity . I appreciate Pl4gue and Whaz stepping in and jumping right into action. Q2 team remains inactive a Dahang is in Europe but rest assured, they will be ready to rock and roll and catch up on three matches NEXT WEEK! I am selling tickets so /DCC me $$.

I continue to thank all the teams who have worked thru the start up of Season 2. At the end of the day, you are the reason for which we are doing this league. QL.TV continues providing us with awesome coverage. I swear I saw at least 350+ spectators Monday night during the Shoutcast. Can we hit 500+?

Frag hard, frag often.

TDM 2v2 Season 2 : Week 2

27/02/2010 by sirdark

This first week was a trial to see how successful it would all flow on its own. I want to advise I had to be out for personal reasons, however, this league and news post is not about me. This league and its running is about all of the teams that signed up and committed to playing it week in, week out.

To those who played, great work. To those who have yet to play their matches, get it done immediately.

I will be available starting Sunday night, Feb 28. I will be around all this week to help ensure a much smoother administration of actual game night. For those matches that were/will be played, I expect to report match results asap. Please look for me in IRC Gamesurge #QuakeNight,

With that said, please look and check out week two schedules.

p.s. For the winning teams, please make sure you upload winning team demos to QuakeScene.com

p.p.s – We thank QL.TV for their continued support in shoutcasting our events. They did a wonderful job in my recent absence. We hope they continue doing more.

TDM 2v2 Season 2 : starting soon...

13/02/2010 by sirdark

We are about 10 days away from kicking off Season 2. You can once again, do a search in your QL browser for private TDM servers and actually find a few under way. The three month hiatus away from TDM is over, and TDM 2v2 is back.

I encourage all teams to start scrimmaging. We, at #Quakenight, are providing private servers for teams competing in Season 2. We have 4 admins able to spawn servers. Please make note, we are only making them available for QN TDM S2 competing teams.

That said, some teams have been practicing. What scrimming does is it tests competitive conditions. Review your pings to various servers you may NOT always play on. Some teams you play against will not be in your normal playing region.

Speaking of region, when I announced the selected teams, we had only one WEST team (K9) in Pro and three West teams (m-, pbr, fith) in Pro-2B. Because of this and their recent battle with “ping,” I have spoken with and have agreement to make the following change:

This actually makes much more sense if you look who is playing in Pro-2B. Anyways, that is it for now.

Keep scrimming and we look forward to the start of our Season 2.

TDM 2v2 Season 2 : Teams are...

09/02/2010 by sirdark

Once again, we asked the NA QuakeLive community if they wanted a TDM 2v2 Season 2, and the response was solid. I want to thank all the

teams who signed up. As stated previously, we are trying something a little different for Season 2. For obvious reasons, we are using two

separate competition levels: Pro and Pro-2B.

The teams invited are those who have demonstrated to date a high commitment level to “show up and play.” Mix in a sprinkle of skill and a

hint of talent and what we have is a great line up of teams.

In short,

We will continue to post news and information as needed before and during the start of Season 2. So, without further adieu, the team

invites are (in random order):

Pro:

Q2 – Dahang, Scooby
cOK – ClampOK, Gillz
Blight Gaming – bLT, sparks
DaFoneMen – kgb, pyro, flysher
IAM* – Blatrix, SemaJWD
K9 – Exodus, Surp, Meta
Paramedics – w0nk0, Mesta
ddr – cfebns, Artanis_

Pro-2B:

Martyrs – theinr1ch, mack_, wormed
FITH – chief_, xanthar, specie
pbr. – Syn, reflux
Defiance – d1sh, RamXlr8
NOTE – higgs, davjs
OEM – adrenal1ne, nirv
mainLine Gaming – Valiantly, weejaishere, Tilter
LMF – klaovhwN, Frenzy49

Week 1 matches will be posted immediately. You will learn who your Week 1 opponent is tonight. Good luck to all teams and as always,

play, record demos, ggs, and have fun.

We are doing a few things differently, but the general game format will remain the same. Please start off on the right foot – READ THE RULES

TDM 2v2: Season 2 info

12/01/2010 by sirdark

It’s 2010 and its time to get started with QuakeNight’s Season 2 – TDM 2v2.

We had a great response from the active teams of Season 1. Most all who signed up, showed up, played on, and closed out their season.

As we start January, I have been in touch with Syncerror. I have not pushed ahead to start Season 2 until basically two things get done. They are:

  1. QL update allowing pub TDM servers to be voted allowing a TDM 2v2 mode. This has been committed to us and should take place shortly. Once that is done, it will allow teams to practice to their hearts content and have servers at their disposal.
  2. Season 2 will be different in design compared to Season 1. I can already promise you many people will not be happy. But I can also promise you, those who are invited and allowed to play in Season 2, will be VERY happy.

That is enough for now. I will post more information soon. I know the outstanding question is “when will this start?” I will not post a date and risk not meeting it. Thus, I will leave you to know that it is coming real soon.

So, get out there , grab your teammate and practice.

iCTF Tournament Update and Predictions

06/12/2009 by gibz

Our iCTF Tournament kicked off last week with several matches taking place pretty early in the week. We are currently waiting on the rest of the teams to play their week 1 match so we can move onto week2.

Here are some week1 predictions to hold you over til week 2:

TDM 2v2: Wrap up...

26/11/2009 by sirdark

We began this league about two months ago. There was great support by the QLive player community. We managed to form a TDM 2v2 league filled by 3 East divisions and 1 West division. Each had 7 teams to begin with and had enough backup teams to fill in “dead spots.”

Close to 8 weeks later, we end the Quakenight TDM 2v2 Season 1, with finals as:

I want to thank all the teams that showed up week after week to play their matches.

I also want to thank the crew over at QL.TV . They continue to provide coverage for competitive gaming with great casting.

We hope to establish a TDM 2v2 Season 2 early in January 2010.

p.s. If there is enough interest, we may actually put together an EAST vs WEST match of the two winning teams. Yes?? Let us know in #quakenight .

frag on.

Quakenight iCTF Kickoff

22/11/2009 by gibz

After a long delay the Quakenight iCTF Tournament is finally underway. Each team will be given a week from tomorrow ( Monday ) to schedule and play their match. The only down side to this tournament is the lack of ability to spawn iCTF private servers but I will contact SyncError and see if he can add the ability to my account. I will post any update on this situation as soon as I get word back from them. Until then simply join a public iCTF server and callvote qzdm16 to make the server 8 slots.

Please let me know when your match has been scheduled by sending me a private message on IRC as soon as you have them scheduled. I will be working with Quakelive.tv to get as many matches casted as possible and you will have a better chance of getting your match casted by letting me know as far in advance as you can.

The map list and the tiebreaker list will be posted by tomorrow. If your team did not have a chance to signup for the tournament, shoot me a message on IRC and I will be glad to add you to the list of replacement teams as it is likely that a team or two may end up dropping from the tournament. A list of tournament admins and refs will also be posted tomorrow, if you would like to help me out by refing matches shoot me a msg on IRC for consideration.

Here are the seeds for the tournament:

1) EG
2) n!
3) RR
4) soy!
5) x_X
6) flip
7) smf
8) pipeline
9) dM

I’ve finally gone and created the playoff brackets. Thanks for your patience and good luck!

TDM 2v2: Playoffs (preliminary)

14/11/2009 by sirdark

This Monday, Nov. 16. (and if needed Tuesday) is being set aside to hold our first QN TDM 2v2 playoffs.

All matches for East will begin Monday at 9 pm EST. All matches for WEST will begin at 8:30 pm PST (11:30 pm EST)

All matches are/will be subject to QL.TV casting. All teams have pretty much confirmed acceptance.

TDM 2v2: Preparing for PlayOffs

10/11/2009 by sirdark

We are about one week away from the start of the TDM 2v2 playoffs. Please note what was posted in the TDM 2v2 Rules . It states,

PlayOffs:

*Standings are determined by Matches Won, then Games Played, then Maps Won/Maps Lost, and finally Net. For playoff placement, Net is ignored and ties are broken by team vs. team results.

(rules subject to change)

TDM 2v2: Overtime

09/11/2009 by sirdark

It’s late Sunday night and I am about to post something worthy for you all to read. Or not.

The long and short of it is we need as many of the matches remaining to be played. Some teams have all but disappeared off the pixel planet. Those of you still here reading this, let’s get this done… so…

I am extending the CUT OFF TIME to this Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Get a hold of your opponents, ask for a private TDM server, and play. Find us on GameSurge IRC, #quakenight.

Since this week is really an unofficial week, there are no formal matches scheduled. I will work hard to get something prepared for Monday’s QL:TV TDM 2v2 Casting . If so, it will begin at our usual 9:30 pm EST time slot.

TDM 2v2: Thank God in heaven, finally week seven (7)

02/11/2009 by sirdark

It seems like only yesterday that we began down this fun fraggin’ road. Remember how it started? In 96-hrs we signed up 28 players and about 14 teams. All this covered 4 divisions, 3 east, and 1 west.

Seven is heaven in my book as we come down the stretch. See the schedule here.

QL:TV Casting for Monday’s TDM 2v2 will begin at our usual 9:30 pm EST time slot.

The following is tentative as I got the “ok” from one team from each cast. I got the ok to pencil in for:

(ok by A51 2v2; checking with x_X)

If anything changes, I will post here.

As we enter week six, you can see the schedule here.

That’s the plan. Now let’s go out and make it happen.

Update: West Team Abuse is replaced by Adrenaline Rush 2v2

TDM 2v2: QLive is in Week Five

18/10/2009 by sirdark

Now more than half way through this TDM 2v2 Season, we enter week five. As you can see from the schedule , a few teams are draggy draggy. They know as well as anyone that this impacts their standing for a playoff berth. All I can tell them is get your matches played, post demos, and report back to me on the results. There will be little time and flexibility as playoff time comes.

I will be unavailable thru most of this week. Please contact d|Fearghas for ANY Server Spawning needs to play your matches.

QL:TV Casting schedule for Monday’s TDM 2v2 may or may not happen. For those teams who want to have their matches casted, speak directly with QL.TV ADMINs. If it does, it will begin at the usual 9:30 pm EDT time slot:

Things to come

17/10/2009 by gibz

This week I has promoted from all things Capture The Flag to Co-Owner of Quakenight. I would like to take a moment to thank tastypie, owner and founder of Quakenight, for giving me this opportunity.

Quakenight was the first organization to really step up and provide the community with something it desperately needed: a very well run place to compete in every area of Quakelive. Not only was this organization developed with the gaming community in mind, it was also going to be run by gamers who played in the mod they would be moderating. This gave each admin a unique understanding of how the ladder should be run and the rules that should be in place to keep things running smoothly. This is one of the many reasons that I always felt Quakenight had a leg up on all the other leagues, ladders and tournaments out there.

You may ask yourself, how does gibz being promoted affect me, my team or the state of the league itself. For the most part it wont. Our leagues and tournaments will still be run the way they always have been and by the same people. This does mean that you will begin to see new and exciting events start to appear. You will also see an influx in advertising and promotion on other websites you may currently be visiting. You may also start to see some new faces around to help gibz reach these goals. If you or someone you know is interested, contact gibz on irc.

Sneak Peak at events to come:

Quakenight presents an all deaf gamer tournament – gibz has been working with several gamers who are either completely deaf or have hearing disabilities to bring you the first ever tournament featuring only hearing impaired and deaf gamers. You would be surprised at how many are out there currently competing side by side with you right now. This event will give them a chance to even the playing field and compete against other players with similar impairments.

Quakenight presents iCTF – after a long delay we finally bring you the first iCTF tournament. Not only will long time Q3iCTF teams be competing, you will also see teams from all mods of Quakelive and even a team consisting of our friends at Quakelive.tv.

Quakenight presents CTF Season 2 – with season 1 finally wrapping up we will bring you another season of one of Quakelive’s fastest growing mod, Capture the Flag.

These are just a taste of what’s to come in the near future of Quakenight. I am very proud to be a part of such a great staff and look forward to continuing my work here at Quakenight. If you have any ideas, comments or questions you can contact me on irc.gamesurge.net @ #quakenight.

TDM 2v2: Week4 and more..

10/10/2009 by sirdark

Update:

QL:TV Casting for Monday’s TDM 2v2 will begin about 9:30 pm EDT with TWO East Teams:

—————————————————————————————————————————————
We are now reaching the middle of this league’s 6-7 week stretch. You can already begin to see a parting of the ways in wins/losses. More vivid is the “dragging of the feet” of teams to get the matches played.

I have posted some of Week4 matches. The rest will come Sunday. I am asking all teams to find a way to play their matches. No reason for me to chase you down. Get it done. It ultimately effects your standing. Not only that, we will make note of those who give up literally mid stream vs those who tough it out and play, for Season2 team sign-up acceptance.

Bottomline: Schedule, play, ggs

QL.TV Casting matches for East and West will be posted Sunday.

TDM 2v2: and then we enter week 3

03/10/2009 by sirdark

Update: (Monday 1pm CST)

QL.TV will only be shoutcasting the West TDM 2v2 match. They have a prior commitment to cast the ESL Dueling Finals.

————————————————————————————————————————
I had to make changes within the last 24-hrs as two East teams asked be removed or could not play matches going forward. Thus, I removed:

QL:TV Casting schedule for Monday’s TDM 2v2 is set to begin about 9:30 pm EDT with:

FYIALL TIMES posted for the matches are to be done within their respective time zones. In other words, a match for east is either CST or EST and thus the time posted for that match is expected to be started at that time. West is PST time zone. d|Tastypie will be making a change to the website to allow post of TIMEZONE stamps.

TDM 2v2: a longer week 2...

01/10/2009 by sirdark

Two items to note:

  1. West Division is once again the LEADING division to have all its 6 matches done before all the other divisions. They completed all matches by Tuesday night. Thanks a ton for this.
  1. Week 2 seems to be dragging a little. I realize its all a matter of scheduling. But ,I remind you I am a mediator to manage the league, not to manage or get involved with minor dealings. All I ever need to know is if your match will NOT happen Monday night as per the League night, then when? All I need to know is Date/Time of scheduled match.

Get it scheduled, played, and on to next week please.

Thanks to all who have stepped up to try to work around schedules. Ultimately, it is in your best interest from a standings standpoint to do so.

- Changes to teams this week:

TDM 2v2: Wk2 and the cast is...

28/09/2009 by sirdark

After checking the team mix this week, the stats from last week, and the current team lineups, it makes sense to cast:

Thanks to QL.TV for their support this week.

You can check out the rest of the schedules here .

Lastly, please note there is a BUG with qztourney7 Furious Heights in TDM. This has been reported to syncerror:

TDM 2v2: Enters Week 2

25/09/2009 by sirdark

As I write up this post, there are two matches yet to be completed. One East and one West. East may have already been played tonight, Thursday. The West was delayed by B&I who plumb disappeared off the face of the planet.

I will be speaking to teams for Monday’s QL.TV Shoutcast. Our goal is one EAST and one WEST match to be casted.

Please check rules

TDM 2v2: Wrapping up 1st week...

23/09/2009 by sirdark

Again, big thanks to all the teams that worked to play their matches on Monday. The majority of them were done then. Of the 5 remaining matches, 3 East and 2 West, I have had to make already one draconian move.

To date, all teams have given 100% commitment to (bottom line) play their matches as scheduled. Any team not living up to that (and one can tell by the questions asked about rules and schedules), is being politely but sternly removed. We are both spending lots of time and effort to bring you all a solid, and smoothly run league. I will not, as I know you will not, settle for anything less.

No penalty for the leaving team as they were up front about their inability to play further matches 100% of the time. As such, RiYM has taken an East spot and is due to play KM-East asap.

I fear I may have to once again, remove another team: Black & Indian – West as they have disappeared over the last 36 hours and no contact.

I am only able to continue to move things along because I have teams ready, willing, and able to step up and play. The backup list is full and people are wanting to play.

I am asking all remaining teams, and for any future matches, to be played asap and with minimal delays. This helps us all out.

In short, all the matches played were ggs. There were a few blow outs, and a few evenly balanced matches. Demos are uploaded as promised at Quakescene

As soon as this first week’s matches are done, I will post Week 2.

TDM 2v2: Ready, Set, GO!!!

21/09/2009 by sirdark

Ok – game time.

I will keep it short and sweet… by now you all should have contacted your opposing team. I have asked and received match confirmation for 9 out of the 12 matches for tonight. Good Job fellas. This shows commitment on your end. Let’s keep it going.

Who does QL TDM 2v2?

16/09/2009 by sirdark

Edit: Thursday 9/17 11 am CDT

Now have 17 East teams, and 7 West teams registered.

End edit

From an idea to posting 17 teams on a “standings list” – You, made it happen.

It’s a pleasure to post that within a 24-hr period, the QuakeLive community stepped up and stepped right in. We presently have 17 teams expected to participate in the upcoming QL TDM 2v2 League.

To date, there is really only one pro team in the mix (I’ll let you look it up). As of right now, Wednesday 10:30 am CDT, we have already received verbal commitments from 2 more teams wanting to join. I expect to see a few more teams sign up, possibly even some more “Pro-teams.” The nice thing about this league at the moment not being drowned by all pro teams, is that it allows up and coming players time and space to showcase their skills.

Just to summarize:

3 New Leagues

15/09/2009 by fearghas

After a brief summer hiatus Quakenight.com returns with three new NA leagues for this fall.

First, Quakenight will be running a new and experimental dueling competition. Rather than having individuals competing head to head, this league will pit teams of duelers against each other. Each team will select 3 duelers to play one map in a best of 3 map match. Will your team put in the seasoned veteran or send in the one map wonder kid against the opposing team’s best player?

The second league will be North America’s first 2v2 TDM competition. Currently this is one of the most active scrimmage game types in NA, and will feature the best of the upcoming and top players.

Finally, after the success of the Quakecon CTF tournament Quakenight will be running an instagib CTF league. While the league may not be everyone’s cup of tea we think there will be some fun to be had.

GGL and NGL have agreed to provide private servers to the competitions while GameFire TV has agreed to provide shoutcasting for the Team Duel League. Quakelive Tv also did a fantastic job casting for our other leagues and we hope they will return for these seasons.

Signups for the Team Duel League will be open through next Sunday and matches will begin the following Wednesday. Players can signup for the ICTF and 2v2 TDM league which will begin within the next few weeks.

Message the following admins in #quakenight on irc.gamesurge.com to signup.

QN East TDM -

29/07/2009 by sirdark

In hopes of quickly catching up, a few teams have stepped up and matches are scheduled to happen very quickly over the next few days.

Now if LightsOut (x_X) can help a league and schedule their matches, we could actually have final standings in for tally.

Could a playoff event take place? Let’s work on getting these matches played and the rest will sort itself out. Thursday QN Schedule

West leagues approaching the playoffs

29/07/2009 by driver8

One week remains for West CA. Team Dynamic, pipeline, and Best in the West have clinched playoff spots. The fourth spot is still up for grabs, and defiance, Death Strikers West, and Intravenous might all have a shot at it.

In West TDM, there is only one straggling match left to be played. Canine, Knightmare FIRE, and Martyrs have clinched their spots in the playoffs, with Team Dynamic dropping out of TDM. The final match between defiance and Death Strikers West will determine who gets the 4th spot.

atastypie will be back next week, and we’ll have the playoff brackets posted once all matches are completed.

Shoutcasting?

28/07/2009 by QuakeNight Admin

As we begin to wrap up most matches for CA and TDM, some have asked about having their matches shoutcasted.

If you can give us 2-3 days notice prior to any scheduled match, we can work with the respective groups to have your match shoutcasted. Please keep in mind that a lot of preparation goes into scheduling such an activity. So in other words, make sure you and your opponent are equally committed to playing the match as scheduled. There is nothing worse than requesting a shoutcast and then to only have a Forfeit occur.

Let’s finish strong, teams.

Week 1 CA predictions

08/06/2009 by house

Alright, Quake Night’s first week! Exciting times, folks. I’ve been given the go-ahead to weigh in with my predictions each week, so here are my thoughts on week 1. The league looks pretty competitive (I don’t see any bad clans), so don’t be surprised if I’m wrong a lot for the first bit.

Pipe|_ine vs iDemise

This looks like the closest matchup of the week from where I’m sitting. iDemise/hazard is a consistent clan who has done very well in NGL. I can’t take anything away from Pipline, though, as they have defied expectations in the NGL tournaments as well. I think it is likely that iDemise will have a slight ping advantage, and I’m not sure how often Pipeline’s entire starting line makes it out for matches. Therefore, I think iD will have the edge here.

Prediction: iD[!] beats |_ in a 2-1 nail-biter

Requiem vs Intravenous

I haven’t seen a whole lot from Requiem in the CA side of things, so I’m not sure what to expect. I have, however, seen Intravenous play, and I know they’re capable of beating anyone in the west. They’re hard to bet against, and I won’t be doing so in week 1.

Prediction: iV over rqm 2-0

Defiance vs Martyrs

Betting against my own clan seems like a bad idea. Not that I would here anyway. The Tuesday night TDM rematch could very well be a different story, but I think Defiance has the edge in CA games from a teamplay and experience perspective. And rumor has it that mack is playing with Oz on the CA side, which is a slight blow for Martyrs. This should be close, though. The back-to-back CA and TDM matches between these teams could be the start of a close rivalry.

Prediction: Defiance beats Martyrs 2-1

Death Strikers West vs Never Smoke Stress

This looks like another very competitive matchup. Recent competitions have shown that DS is one of the best clans around today, but nSS looks like they’ve put together a strong lineup. That being said, DS has been on of the better teams in Quake Live competition as of late and I don’t see them losing here.

Prediction: DS > nSS 2-0

Overkill Zone vs Best in the West

With a cocksure name like Best in the West, I’d hope these boys can back it up. Looking at their lineup reveals a lot of big names, so I’m sure they’ll do just fine. OZ always puts up a good fight and definitely has more experience playing together, but it might not be enough this week.

Prediction: bw over Oz 2-0

Until next week, it’s still not lupus.
